Richcraft Hope Centre, Ottawa’s newest supportive housing and community kitchen is visited by its namesake donors, Ottawa’s Singhal family of Richcraft Homes.

On April 16, Ottawa’s Singhal family visited Richcraft Hope Centre, a new supportive housing residence and Community Kitchen run by Shepherds of Good Hope.

Ottawa’s newest supportive housing residence and community kitchen, Richcraft Hope Centre, was visited by its namesake family members during an intimate gathering on April 16th.

Richcraft Hope Centre is the second Shepherds of Good Hope building to be supported by the Singhal family and Richcraft Homes, since Richcraft Hope Residence opened on Montreal Road in 2021.

Richcraft Hope Centre is Shepherds of Good Hope’s sixth supportive housing residence in Ottawa,” says Shepherds of Good Hope Foundation CEO, David Gourlay. “Thanks to the leadership donation from the Singhal family, Shepherds of Good Hope will have 339 people in permanent homes living within Shepherds continuum of care, bringing us closer to our vision of Homes for all. Community for all. Hope for all.”

“We are honoured to support this vital community resource,” says the Singhal Family. “It aligns with our values to know that individuals experiencing homelessness are being fed and treated with dignity and compassion.”

Richcraft Hope Centre features 48 bachelor-style apartments, 24/7 support, and access to life skills and community integration for its residents.

The new, state-of-the-art industrial kitchen will produce nearly 650 meals daily, providing nutritious food for those accessing the Community Kitchen and residents living on the floors above. Shepherds’ culinary team will also use the facility to prepare and deliver meals to three additional supportive housing residences operated by Shepherds of Good Hope.

Richcraft Hope Centre is a major milestone for Shepherds and the people we serve,” says Shepherds of Good Hope CEO, Stephen Bartolo. “Thanks to the partnerships with all levels of Government, the commitment of our donors, partners, staff, volunteers, and the generosity of the Singhal family, Shepherds continues its commitment to serving those experiencing homelessness in Ottawa.”

Caroline K, whose son, after two years experiencing homelessness is now safe, and living at Richcraft Hope Residence, expressed her gratitude to the Singhal family. “I have peace of mind and can sleep again. His neighbours share similar stories and have at least one thing in common; they are safe too.”
